Children’s book writer
My name is Katharine Teisseire. I am the lucky mother of two great kids. My husband and I work in the finance industry in Luxembourg but we live in France, so we cross the border every day.
Something many people don't know about me is that I have a pastry certificate. I love all kinds of sweets. When I become tired of the financial world, I plan to open a bakery, and, of course, continue writing! :-)
About MeWhat I enjoy the most is spending time with my kids. There are tough moments sometimes, but watching them grow and seeing them becoming little independent people is just so much fun. And it really makes me happy.
My days begin early. I often wake up before 6:00 in the morning so that I can have some good coffee, enjoy the silence, work on personal projects and write. Then, around 7:00, the daily marathon begins. The house wakes up, the family needs to have breakfast and we all get ready for school or the childcare center or work.
I spend about eight or nine hours at work. I work with some nice people, which is lucky since I spend a lot of time with them. At 5:00 pm the “second” day begins: pick up the kids, play with them, cook dinner, get baths, play some more, read one or two or three books, and then yet another story and finally the sweet monsters can go to bed.
My favorite moments are when we are back home. We often stay all together in the kitchen. My husband is a good cook; I give him a hand, and the kids play around. It sometimes gets very noisy! When this happens I move to the living room with the children so the chef can prepare dinner, but we always take the time to eat all together.
My strongest belief is that the way in which we raise our kids can improve humanity. This is why I try to follow positive parenting principles. It is not always easy, but I do my best.
And why do I write? I write to share special moments, experiences and values with my kids. My work is dedicated to my kids; all I do is for them. I'm also happy to share the love I put into my books with other kids. I really hope all the little readers around the world will love the stories as much as my own kids do.
